ERA 3

Radiance Dawn

The Return

For generations, the darkness of the past was believed to have been extinguished. The world had moved forward, and the ancient conflicts that had once shaped Nirya had become distant memories. Kingdoms rose, civilizations flourished, and a new age began beneath the belief that the darkness would never return. But the shadows of the past had not truly disappeared. In Era III, that belief is shattered with the emergence of a new Dark Lord, Tarmiel. His return brings chaos to Rivinel and sets in motion events that will once again challenge the balance of Nirya. An age that believed the darkness was gone must now face its return.

Rivinel

Rivinel is a vast and storied region of Nimerath, where the strength of kingdoms and the weight of ancient darkness exist side by side. Within its borders lie the realms of Armiel, Nemeron, Serenus, and Velion, each shaped by its own culture, history, and alliances. Together, these kingdoms form the heart of Rivinel’s power, shaping its trade, politics, and the fragile balance that has held the region together for generations. Yet to the east lies Myrveil, an accursed domain where the ancient darkness first took form. Shrouded in mist and shadow, Myrveil stands apart from the rest of Rivinel. Its lands bear the scars of forgotten evils, while forces thought to have disappeared remain hidden beneath the surface. Together, these lands define Rivinel as a realm of beauty and conflict, prosperity and ruin, a place where the legacy of the past still lives beneath the surface, waiting to emerge once again.

Velenthar

Velenthar is the oldest and most sacred forest in Nimerath, a place where the presence of the gods has remained deeply woven into the land for generations. The forest is home to priests who have devoted their lives entirely to the gods, living within Velenthar in permanent service and contemplation. Yet the sacred forest belongs to no kingdom and recognizes no worldly rank. Within its boundaries, all who enter are regarded simply as children of the gods. Visitors may enter Velenthar and experience its ancient sanctity, but no crown, title, wealth, or political power carries authority within the forest. Only the Five High Priests hold authority over Velenthar, entrusted with preserving its sacred order and protecting one of the holiest places in Nimerath. For generations, Velenthar has remained apart from the affairs of kingdoms, a timeless sanctuary where faith stands above power.

Myrveil

Myrveil was once the kingdom of Velkenor, the God of Darkness, during the First Era. After his fall, the gods sealed the kingdom away from the rest of Nimerath, closing its borders and forbidding anyone from ever entering again. Nothing that remained within Myrveil was ever seen again. Those who had been left behind perished within its boundaries, and over the ages the kingdom became a place untouched by the world beyond it, abandoned, forgotten, and consumed by darkness. Even the passage of time seems to have no meaning there. For generations, Myrveil remained sealed, its existence reduced to an ancient memory that no living person had witnessed. Until Tarmiel found a way inside. What he discovered beyond the sealed borders would bring the darkness of the past back into the world once more.

Tarmiel

Tarmiel was once a devoted child of Velenthar, taken in and raised by Velir, one of the Five High Priests. An orphan from a young age, he grew within the sacred forest and devoted himself completely to the teachings of the gods. For many years, Tarmiel was regarded as an exemplary student, disciplined, devoted, and deeply respected by those around him. Yet as he grew older, something within him began to change. Questions that had once remained unanswered began to occupy his thoughts. He started to question the way the world was shaped, the order that governed it, and the principles he had been taught to accept. Rather than silence those doubts, Tarmiel chose to follow them. He eventually turned away from the path that had defined his entire life and chose another. A different path. One that would lead him beyond Velenthar, into the sealed kingdom of Myrveil, and ultimately transform him into the second Dark Lord of Nirya. His emergence would mark the beginning of a new age of darkness.

Veil of Shadow

The Veil of Shadow is formed by the nine most devoted followers of Tarmiel, nine individuals who have earned his absolute trust and stand closest to the second Dark Lord of Nirya. Each member possesses abilities that place them far beyond ordinary men. Some wield rare and extraordinary forms of magic, while others are among the most formidable warriors in all of Nimerath. Almost all are wanted across the kingdoms, their names feared throughout Rivinel. Yet the Veil of Shadow is only the innermost circle of Tarmiel’s growing power. Beyond these ten, others have gathered beneath his influence, drawn to his vision and the darkness he represents. Together, they form a force capable of spreading chaos far beyond the borders of any single kingdom. With the Veil of Shadow at his side, Tarmiel begins to bring chaos to Rivinel, disturbing the fragile balance that has endured for generations. And this is only the beginning. Before the darkness reaches its greatest confrontation, Rivinel will first have to face the force that Tarmiel has gathered in its shadow.

The Final War

The rise of Tarmiel brought Rivinel to the brink of destruction. As the darkness spread and hope began to disappear, the kingdoms that had once stood divided were forced to unite against a common enemy. For the first time in generations, all the kingdoms of Rivinel stood together. Kings, armies, warriors, and people from every realm gathered with a single purpose — to end the darkness that had returned to their world. Yet as the war reached its final moments, hope seemed to vanish completely. The darkness overwhelmed the battlefield, consuming everything in its path and leaving Rivinel on the edge of destruction. Then, when all seemed lost, a final ray of light appeared. That light became the symbol of hope that the kingdoms needed. United beneath it, the forces of Rivinel found the strength to rise once more and face Tarmiel. The final confrontation brought an end to the darkness. Tarmiel was defeated. The darkness that had returned to Nirya was finally extinguished, and Rivinel survived. But Tarmiel had made one final mistake. Throughout his rise, he had failed to recognize the importance of one particular individual, someone he never considered a threat, yet whose actions would ultimately save all of Rivinel. The identity of that person, and the role they played in the final moments of the war, would become one of the defining mysteries of the age. With the defeat of Tarmiel, the great darkness of Era III was finally brought to an end. And for the first time in thousands of years, Nirya stood beneath the light once more.

The Era of Radiance Dawn

The Third Era, known as Radiance Dawn (RD), spanned 2,840 years and marked the age in which the great saga of Nirya unfolded. It was an era born from the lingering hope left after centuries of conflict, a time when kingdoms struggled to reclaim stability and light from the long shadows cast by divine wars and ancient betrayals. Throughout Radiance Dawn, the world experienced both renewal and turmoil: forgotten magics resurfaced, new alliances formed, and dark forces once sealed in myth began to stir again. This era is defined by the rise of Tarmiel, the fallen priest whose descent into corruption awakened powers unseen since the age of gods. His growing influence reshaped nations, shattered peace, and plunged Rivinel into an era of fear and unrest. Battles ignited across lands, destinies collided, and heroes were forged in the crucible of chaos. Radiance Dawn came to its end with the legendary event known as the Defeat of Tarmiel, a moment that broke the cycle of rising darkness and reshaped the fate of the world. With his fall, the era closed, giving way to uncertain years ahead, marked by fragile hope and the echoes of a victory that came at unimaginable cost.
