Rivinel
The Cursed Destiny

The Land of Kingdoms and Shadow
Rivinel is a vast and storied region of Nimerath, a land where the strength of kingdoms and the weight of ancient darkness coexist. Within its borders lie the realms of Armiel, Nemeron, Serenus, and Velion, each shaped by its own culture, history, and alliances. These kingdoms have long stood as the heart of Rivinel’s power, guiding trade, politics, and the fragile balance that keeps the region stable. Yet to the east lies Myrveil, the accursed domain where the ancient darkness first took form. Shrouded in mist and shadow, Myrveil stands apart from the rest of Rivinel, its very soil stained by forgotten evils and restless forces that have never truly died. Together, these lands define Rivinel as a place of beauty and conflict, hope and ruin, a realm where light and shadow are forever intertwined.
Myrveil
The Cursed City
Myrveil is a city drowned in ancient darkness, cursed since the First Era when the shadow of Velkenor first scarred the world. Its atmosphere is poisonous to mortal life, no human, elf, or creature of flesh can enter its boundaries and survive, for the very air devours the soul and breaks the body. The land itself rejects the living, shrouded in a miasma of corruption that has lingered for millennia. Yet one man walks freely where all others perish: Tarmiel. Consumed by shadow and reshaped by forbidden power, he is bound so deeply to the ancient darkness that the curse cannot touch him. Within the dead streets of Myrveil, he found not ruin but purpose. There, surrounded by the whispers of the old evil, he forged his dominion and began gathering those who would follow him into the abyss. From the heart of this cursed city, Tarmiel formed the Veil of Shadow, a clandestine order born from fear, ambition, and the promise of unholy power. Myrveil became their sanctuary, their stronghold, and the birthplace of the darkness that would one day threaten all of Rivinel.

Velenthar
The Sacred Forest
Velenthar is one of the most sacred places in all of Nirya, a divine woodland untouched by kingdom, crown, or mortal authority. Within its boundaries, titles hold no power, king and commoner stand as equals beneath the silent canopy of ancient trees. This holy forest is home to the Priests of Velenthar, guardians of balance who live in harmony with the land and serve as spiritual guides to all who seek truth and clarity. No one tainted by darkness may enter its borders. The forest itself recognizes corruption, rejecting any soul that carries shadow within their heart. Those who attempt to step inside with ill intent are turned away by an unseen force, as if the forest breathes and protects its sanctity. Velenthar is a realm of calm winds, soft light, and whispering leaves, a place where the world feels older, wiser, and closer to the divine. It stands as a living sanctuary, a reminder that even in ages ruled by war and ambition, purity and peace still have a home in Nirya.
The Kingdoms of Rivinel
Rivinel is shaped by four great kingdoms, each defined by its own strength, culture, and legacy. Armiel stands as the shield of the land, a kingdom renowned for producing the finest warriors in all of Rivinel, its soldiers are disciplined, fearless, and forged through centuries of battle tradition. To the east lies Nemeron, a realm whose pride rests upon its legendary cavalry, elite riders and unmatched steeds whose bond is said to rival even ancient magic. Along the coast rises Serenus, the heart of commerce and the keeper of the largest ports in Rivinel. Its grand harbors host bustling trade routes, powerful fleets, and a naval force feared across the seas. Finally, there is Velion, a vast and opulent kingdom where wealth flows like rivers. Its people live in unparalleled luxury, their prosperity shaping a culture of refinement, influence, and political power. Together, these four kingdoms form the proud face of Rivinel, each vital, each unique, and each forever shaped by the looming shadow of Myrveil to the north.

The Era of Radiance Dawn

The Third Era, known as Radiance Dawn (RD), spanned 2,840 years and marked the age in which the great saga of Nirya unfolded. It was an era born from the lingering hope left after centuries of conflict, a time when kingdoms struggled to reclaim stability and light from the long shadows cast by divine wars and ancient betrayals. Throughout Radiance Dawn, the world experienced both renewal and turmoil: forgotten magics resurfaced, new alliances formed, and dark forces once sealed in myth began to stir again. This era is defined by the rise of Tarmiel, the fallen priest whose descent into corruption awakened powers unseen since the age of gods. His growing influence reshaped nations, shattered peace, and plunged Rivinel into an era of fear and unrest. Battles ignited across lands, destinies collided, and heroes were forged in the crucible of chaos. Radiance Dawn came to its end with the legendary event known as the Defeat of Tarmiel, a moment that broke the cycle of rising darkness and reshaped the fate of the world. With his fall, the era closed, giving way to uncertain years ahead, marked by fragile hope and the echoes of a victory that came at unimaginable cost.
